MINNEAPOLIS — A former Minneapolis Park Police chief has pleaded guilty to criminal sexual conduct and child pornography charges.
Under a plea agreement, 68-year-old William Jacobs pleaded guilty Wednesday to three counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and three counts of possessing child pornography.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press (http://bit.ly/xSvSOp) reports Jacobs was facing trial this week. He was accused of having had sex with the teenage son of a family friend over a 2-and-a-half-year period starting in 2007.
Sentencing is scheduled April 9. Jacobs faces a sentence ranging from 12 to 18 years.
A judge had ruled that prosecutors would be able to tell jurors about three of the alleged 17 previous incidents of abuse they claim happened.
Jacobs also had a career as a camp counselor and as a teacher.
