police officer charged with having inappropriate relationship with student

CONROE—Officials say two men are charged with having an inappropriate relationship with the same Caney Creek High School student.
Officials say former Conroe ISD police officer Chris Sutton is charged with the offense of Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student.
According to officials, the alleged victim is an adult student who attends Caney Creek High School.
District officials first learned of the possible charges when Sutton resigned on February 17 from the Conroe ISD Police Department.
Sutton worked as a police officer for the Conroe ISD Police Department for 14 years, serving as sergeant for the past nine years.
The teen allegedly met Sutton on Grindr, a gay dating website, last year. The student “did not know he was communicating with Sutton on Grindr until Sutton revealed his identity,” according to the affidavit.
Authorities said in August the two started to meet routinely at a local park and at the boy’s home.
“These charges are serious and the safety and well-being of our students remains our highest priority,” said Chief William Harness. “The District is working closely with the District Attorney’s office and the city of Conroe Police Department in the investigation. ”
Another man, Brian Ortiz, is also charged with Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student involving the same student. Officials say Ortiz is an athletic official contracted through Houston TASO Basketball Officials Association, Houston TASO Football Officials Association, and Houston Basketball Officials Association.
