Raleigh cop arrested for promoting, participating in prostitution of minor; teen in custody

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Raleigh police officer has been released on bond following his arrest for soliciting a teenager for sex.
A statement from Fayetteville police said 34-year-old Jason Brandon Hoyle is charged with promoting prostitution of a minor and participating in the prostitution of a minor. Hoyle is accused of paying a teenager for sex on Feb. 7.
Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue (shuh-GREW') said an internal administrative investigation is under way.
Authorities also said 17-year-old Tiara Michelle Bradshaw was arrested and charged with misdemeanor solicitation for prostitution.
Hoyle was freed on $100,000 bond. Bradshaw was released on a written promise to appear in court. It's not clear if either suspect had an attorney.
Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue (shuh-GREW') said an internal administrative investigation is under way. Hoyle has worked for the Raleigh Police Department since October 2000 and is assigned to the detective division.

Cop found dead afterchild porn arrest
A COP was found dead after being arrested on suspicion of child porn offences, it was revealed today.
Police Sergeant John Skilling, 50, was discovered in his car in an exhaust-filled garage.
He had been arrested in September on suspicion of making, possessing and distributing indecent images of children.
Sgt Skilling had been running Gloucester Police's schools unit before officers swooped on him. He was found dead on November 20 last year.
The force said in a statement: "We can confirm that on September 13, 2011, a 50-year-old serving police officer was arrested at his home.
"The man was released on police bail pending further inquiries. He was immediately suspended but subsequently left the constabulary of his own accord.
"On the morning of November 20, 2011, he was found deceased at his home address. His death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner was informed.
"We are satisfied, at this time, that the individual arrested did not commit any offences during the course of his work."
Sgt Skilling, from Hucclecote, was well known around schools for giving talks on cyber-bullying.
He had worked as head of Gloucestershire Police schools unit until less than a year before his death when he was moved as part of a cost-cutting force re-shuffle.
A full inquest into his death is due to be held on March 13 in Gloucester.

Galveston deputy jailed on child sex charge

GALVESTON – A Galveston County deputy was arrested Monday on charges of aggravated sexual assault on a child in Grand Prairie, a Galveston County sheriff's spokesman said.Miguel Zapata, 44, a deputy at the Galveston County jail since September 2010, was arrested in Galveston and taken to the jail where he worked, sheriff's spokesman Maj. Ray Tuttoilmondo said. Zapata's bail was set at $100,000.
Officers from the sheriff's Office of Professional Standards are investigating to determine Zapata's employment status, Tuttoilmondo said.
Tuttoilmondo said details of the investigation were unavailable. Detectives at the Grand Prairie Police Department could not be reached for comment.
Grand Prairie officers told the Galveston Sheriff's Office on Monday about the charges and Zapata was arrested in Galveston, Tuttoilmondo said.
He said Zapata would transferred to the Dallas County Jail within days.
Virginia State Police arrested 29-year-old Christopher A. Carson of Bealeton, Va. on charges of aggravated sexual battery, indecent liberties with a child and distributing pornography to a juvenile.
State police say two of the charges are related to sexual misconduct with a juvenile more than a decade ago and before he worked as a trooper.
Carson is being held without bond at the Fauquier County Jail. Carson has been on administrative leave since December 27, 2011, according to state police.
State police say Carson joined them in July 2005. After graduating from the academy, he worked in Culpeper Division's Area 12 Office to patrol in Fauquier County.
