MINNEAPOLIS
- The former Minneapolisk Police officer who was facing multiple sex crime
charges was sentenced Monday to 18 years in prison and 10 years probation.
William
Jacobs was charged with first degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly
molesting a 15-year-old boy over a three-year period. In March, Jacobs reached
a plea bargain and pled guilty to lesser charges of second degree criminal
sexual conduct and three counts of possession of child pornography.
On Monday,
Hennepin County attorney Mike Freeman said Jacobs' sentence is the best the
county could hope for considering how much time has elapsed between the abuse
and prosecution.
The
charges stemmed from the molestation of a boy over a three-year period.
Prosecutors
had said Jacobs inappropriately touched children as far back as the early
1960s.
Jacobs
also previously taught at the Breck School in Golden Valley where he was also
accused of sexual abuse
