New Details: Officer Charged in Molestation Case from Eight Years Ago

OROVILLE, Calif. -
New details in the arrest of a Butte County man who is in law enforcement charged with lewd acts, sodomy, and child porn.
We learned exclusively over the weekend that 28-year-old Jared Tomlinson is a reserve officer for the Marysville Police Department and a reserve deputy for the Sutter County Sheriff's office. Marysville Police has put him on administrative leave.
Investigators wouldn't give too many details about this case but they said that the incidents happened in Butte County, and started eight years ago when the victim was just 14 years old.
According to the Butte County District Attorney’s Office, Tomlinson moved in with the victim's family on the outskirts of Gridley right around the time this started happening.
Investigators said Tomlinson took pictures of what he did.
Tomlinson was arrested in uniform at the Sutter County Sheriff's Office on Thursday by Butte County deputies.
Investigators said only now, eight years later, did the victim decide to come forward.
“When the victim became 22 [years old] is when the revelation came here and that's when the Sheriff's Office did their investigation,” said District Attorney Mike Ramsey.
Investigators said Tomlinson has bailed out of jail. He’s due back in court on May 17.
The Butte County Sheriff's Office is still asking for your help. If you know any additional information, you are asked to give them a call.
